Happy First Day of SPRING!!

Wahoooo Spring has Sprung & the best part of the year, in my opinion, is just around the corner– long sunny days, beautiful sunsets, warmer ocean temps, bright colors in style, heat, colorful flowers blooming, boat season, and new foods in season. Although this past Winter was one of the warmest recorded in history in the US, I’m still excited for the temperatures to only get warmer with more daylight (hopefully). In honor of Spring I thought I’d write about some of the foods that are in season now. A highlight of Spring is garden season and all the fresh greens now available. Many spring foods have a natural cleansing property too. So if you’re looking to get in shape for beach season, think about a serious detox plan in the next three months. Get rid of those holiday, comfort foods, and begin a healthy eating plan til June to feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and alive. It’s normal to feel bigger, sluggish, and well out of shape from the Winter since your body naturally builds up to keep you warm, protected, and comfortable in the cold. Use Spring to bring your energy back. Go munch, create, cook, and enjoy~

Fruits: Apples, blueberries, blackberries, cranberries, grapefruit, pears, strawberries, raspberries, pomegranates

Veggies: Artichokes, asparagus, green beans, bell peppers, sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chicory, chilantro, garlic, ginger, kale, lettuce, collard greens, spinach, swiss chard, turnips, mushrooms, parlsey, peas, seaweed

Beans: all sprouted beans, black gam, garbanzo, goya kidney, lentils, mung, split peas

Meat (if you must): chicken, eggs, fresh water fish, turkey

Some Good Spices: Basil, bay leaf, black pepper, cardamon, cayenne, chamomile, cinnamon, clove, cumin, garlic, ginger, mustard, nutmeg, oregano, peppermint, poppy seeds, rosemary, saffron, sage, spearmint, thyme, tumeric
