“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” [Lao Tzu]
“They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” [Andy Warhol]
With the new Fall season I’ve been reflecting upon my past seasons of Spring and Summer, and reflecting on what my new year goals of 2012 were, what’s changed, what’s shifted, and what has creeped in. It’s funny and amazing how much of what I wanted has come into play, and usually in different ways than I’d ever imagined. I’ve also noticed my own personal transformation, what no longer serves me, and what things/people no longer bring that joy as before.
Fall is here, the sun is now in Libra, a sign connected to relationships and a sign that hopes to create balance and harmony. I always like to think of October as a time in the year I can regroup and realign. The chaos of summer is over, the weather is getting cooler, nights are longer, days shorter, and there is more ‘me’ time. I like to shuffle out my junk, weed out people who just dont do it for me anymore, and evaluate what I really want out of like now. I feel like there is always transitions and changes within people as summer ends and fall begins, new jobs, new relationships, you name it. And after all that chaos settles, October is great time to get back into your own groove, your vales, and your desires. For me it’s almost like a new year, time to jolt down my ideas, my resolutions, what I now want in my life and all around me.
“Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.” [Marilyn Monroe]
““For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again.” [Eric Roth]
It’s funny because day by day we change. We have new beliefs, we see things in new ways, and we notice what we want more of. Even without recognizing, we shift internally. Sometimes is may take a while to notice the change in your self and your own evolution. But by accepting and allowing the changes you can gradually transform into who you really want to be. It’s not easy, and for me the hardest part was reflected in others attitude towards me. But it’s amazing when you reach a place where you are able to find pure joy in all that you do, gratitude for what you have, and drop any uneasy feelings of what people think about you. I always think, wow I’ve changed so much since this point in time (high school, college, my first job, last summer, etc) and then I look back and realize that in the grand scheme of things I’ve changed heaps, leaps, and mounds, but at the end of the day I’m really just coming back to that person that I was back when I was younger….that happy girl, outgoing, social, who loved to sing, theatre, crafting, and anything artsy. I let life and other people take the reins for me for a while, had some ups and down, and am easily transforming back to my own true self. I love the quote above because it is a constant reminder for me that at the end of the day it doesnt matter what you do, your job, what status you elevate yourself too, who you date, etc….what matters is how you feel and your own experience. It’s like when I take a trip and leave my hometown or the country for weeks. Every time I return I always get frustrated when I realize no matter how long I wander, where I go, or what happens, I always come back to virtually the same thing. The coffee shop is still there, friends are still working their jobs without the slightest care about what you did, and usually the radio is still playing the same top 50 hit as before you left. It’s funny because nothing really changes on the outside, but on the inside, everything shifts. So then you have to accept your own transcendence and your own awareness and carry on, knowing you walking you path, doing as you do, and living freely….Always changing within, and maybe just coming back to that place and that person you once were…say Hello, notice, reflect, and carry on with so much happiness…
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” [Obama]
